The Department of Meteorology says that owing to the active South-West monsoonal state, the current windy conditions over the island are predicted to persist.
Occasional showers or thundershowers are due in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, as well as in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western provinces.
Heavy showers of about 50 mm are expected in certain locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Strong winds of about 50-60 KMPH are predicted for the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as for Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts and, over Western slopes of the central hills.
Fairy high winds of 30-40 KMPH are occasionally in other parts of the island, the Met. Department added.
