Rail operations on the up-country railway line have been obstructed this morning (16) due to a fallen tree, Sri Lanka Railways says.
The tree has fallen on the tracks between Balana and Ihalakotte railway stations at daybreak, causing significant delays for seven trains, Deputy General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways Engineer N.J. Indipolage explained.
He further mentioned that four trains set to travel from Kandy to Colombo and another two trains scheduled to head from Colombo and Polgahawela to Kandy may experience delays.
In the meantime, trains leaving from Colombo Fort railway station will only be led to Rambukkana railway station and trains running from Badulla railway station will be paused at Kadugannawa railway station.
Measures have been taken by the Railway Department to remove the fallen tree from the tracks.
The Department further said that the line would be back to normal as quickly as possible.
