A 54-year-old man and his four-year-old daughter were killed while his wife suffered serious injuries in a fatal accident at Sandiweli in Batticaloa last evening (18).
The accident occurred when the van containing the victims veered off the Batticaloa-Valaichchenai road and crashed into a kohomba tree. Police believe that deceased male, who was the driver, had lost control of the vehicle.
The victims were admitted to the Sandiweli Hospital where the husband and his daughter succumbed to their injuries. The wife, who is also in critical condition, was transferred to the Batticaloa Hospital for further treatment.
The victims are residents of Kattankudy. Sandiweli Police are investigating.
