The National People's Power (NPP) has secured 159 seats at the 2024 parliamentary election. The final results show that the NPP obtained 6, 863, 186 votes, accounting for 61.56% of the total valid vote. The party won 141 seats outright and has also secured 18 National List seats.
The win gives the NPP a 2/3 majority in Parliament.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has come second with 1, 968, 716 votes, amounting to 17.66% of the valid votes, giving them a total of 40 seats. Five of these seats are from the National List.
The Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) has obtained 257, 813 votes; or 2.31% of the valid votes. The party obtained eight seats, with one of them being from the National List.
The New Democratic Front (NDF) has obtained 500, 835 votes (4.49%), giving them five seats, two of which are from the National List.
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured 350, 429 votes (3.14%) has won three seats, including one National List seat.
The Sarvajana Balaya (SB) has secured one seat through the National List after obtaining 178, 006 votes, which amounts to 1.60% of total valid votes.
The United National Party (UNP), Democratic National Tamil Alliance (DNTA), All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC), Jaffna - Independent Group 17 and the Sri Lanka Labour Party (SLLP) has won one seat each.
A total of 11, 815, 246 votes had been cast at yesterday's election, amounting 68.93% of the total number of registered voters. The total number of valid votes was 11, 148, 006 while 667, 240 votes had been rejected.
