A residence located at Delmer lower plantation scheme in Udapussellawa was completely burned yesterday due to sudden fire, police said.
The five occupants of the residence escaped from the fire and are currently staying at the Community hall of the plantation. Police preliminary investigations revealed that an electric leak might have led to the fire.
House furniture, clothes, jewels and school books were completely damaged. State Minister and General Secretary of Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) Jeevan Thondamon visited the scene and assured the affected family to take steps to provide assistance. (Pix by K.Kishanthan)

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
