The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) in coordination with other institutes is continuing the efforts to contain the fire onboard the MV X-Press Pearl, a feeder vessel, anchored around 9.5 nautical miles northwest of the Port of Colombo for the sixth day.
Meanwhile, the SLPA and other institutes are trying to mitigate the impact that can be caused by the fire, SLPA said.
MV X-PRESS PEARL, registered under the flag of Singapore had carried around 1486 containers had departed from the port of Hazira in India on May 15.
