The first Sri Lankan doctor to pass away due to Covid-19 infection was reported from the Karapitiya Hospital today (2).
The deceased is identified as 37-year-old Gayan Danthanarayana of Hinkanda, Ragama.
He had been first admitted to the IDH and later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the Karapitiya Hospital on the 27th.
A past pupil of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, Dr Danthanarayana had obtained his medical degree from Tiangin Medical College, China. He was attached to the Ragama Teaching Hospital at the time of falling sick.
It is reported that the family members of the deceased doctor have also been quarantined, according to the Galle District Health Services Director's Office.
