The first containers filled with contaminated coconut oil were handed over to the Colombo Port yesterday for reshipment to Malaysia.
The four containers filled with coconut oil containing higher than permitted levels of cancer causing aflatoxins had been imported by a company based in Katana. It is among four such importers that had imported the contaminated coconut oil stocks to the country.
The containers of the company were stationed at the SAGT Terminal at the Colombo Port under the supervision of Customs officials.
