The first consignment of 40,000 tonnes of rice from India will reach the country this weekend, the Ministry of Trade said.
The rice consignment which comes under the one-billion-dollar credit line from India will include samba, nadu and white raw rice.
The Ministry said that once reached the ports, rice stocks will be released without delay and distributed to all Sathosa outlets. Accordingly, a kilo of nadu will be sold at Rs.110, white raw rice at Rs. 110 and a kilo of samba will be sold for Rs. 130 at Sathosa outlets.
