A group of fishermen in Kandakuliya, held a protest today on Kandakuliya beach over the Government's decision to raise fuel prices.
Less than 30 fishermen took part in the protest in keeping with quarantine laws implemented due to COVID-19.
The fishermen said that at a time when the public have reduced the consumption of fish owing to fears surrounding the X-Press Pearl disaster, the Government has raised the price of fuel in total disregard of the predicament it placed the fishermen, many of whom voted to bring the present Government to power.
