Five Lankans take illegal boat trip to Tamil Nadu
Five Sri Lankans from Vavuniya have taken refuge in Tamil Nadu, after taking an illegal boat trip to the area.
Five people, including three children, a man and a woman from Vavuniya North Nedunkerny had left from Mannar by paying Rs.13000 in a boat and landed at the 4th sandbank of Dhanushkodi at 11.30 pm on Monday.
The Sri Lankan boatman was later contacted confirming that no Indian security authorities were present and they had returned around 11 pm on Tuesday and picked up all the five people back to the boat and dropped them at the first jetty near Dhanushkodi at 12 midnight on Tuesday.
The Rameswaram police have taken the five people who were dropped to the Marine Police Station and are interrogating them.
