Five Sri Lankans who attempted to smuggle in Rs 400 million worth gold have been arrested by the Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport marking the second biggest detection.
Twenty two kilo grams of gold were detected based on intelligence reports.
Part of the gold was worn as chains among the smugglers while part of the gold had been concealed in the underwear.
The gold had been smuggled from Chennai today morning.
State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya visited Customs to inspect the gold detected.
