A five-year-old child was killed and two others were seriously injured in Wanathavilluwa when a cab driven by an intoxicated driver crashed into a house on Sunday, Police said.
Initial investigations revealed that the four persons including the driver were intoxicated and the vehicle was travelling at very high speed.
The child was playing in the garden while the two others injured were in the front portion of the house.
The cab had come to a halt 20 meters away while the child was thrown 10 meters.
The injured persons were transferred to the Colombo National hospital.
Four persons who were in the cab which belonged to a water project have been arrested.
