The Department of Irrigation has put out a flood warning message issued for the "Gin" River Basin, for the next 24 hours from 02.00 p.m. today (May 16).
Hence, the Irrigation Department alerted that there could be a higher level of flooding in the low elevations of the Gin River located in Baddegama, Niyagama, and Nagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
The residents and motorists traveling through the aforesaid areas are advised to be extra vigilant in this respect.
The Disaster Management Authorities have further requested to take necessary precautions with this in view.
