Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath will undertake a visit to Malaysia this week.
The minister will be in Malaysia on July 10 and 11. He will make a courtesy call on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and will also be meeting with other senior officials of the Malaysian government.
Foreign Ministry sources said Sri Lanka hopes to discuss improving trade and investment with Malaysian authorities during Minister Herath's visit.
Discussions are also to be held on the possibility of giving visa-free entry to Sri Lankans to visit Malaysia.
Minister Herath is also due to attend the Asian Ministers' Forum during his visit to Malaysia. The minister is due to hold bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers from Australia, Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines during his visit. There will also be a bilateral meeting with the First Vice Minister of South Korea.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
