On June 28, the Colombo High Court sentenced Ms. Premachandra to three years of rigorous imprisonment for her role in the 2015 kidnapping and assault of a youth in Dematagoda using a Defender.
After considering the evidence brought forth by the victim, Amila Priyankara, who claimed that on December 21, 2015, he was kidnapped and beaten by a gang of individuals who arrived in a black Defender jeep in Dematagoda, the Colombo High Court passed the sentence on the former MP.
