Former Minister of state, Lohan Ratwatte was remanded until November 7, today over allegations that he used an unregistered vehicle.
The Vehicle was detected in Mirihana at the residence of his wife.
the former State Minister was arrested in Kandy and brought to the Mirihana police station before being produced at the Gangodawila Magistrate courts .
Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa said that Mr Ratawatte was arrested on the allegations that he used a vehicle that had been assembled illegally and was unregistered.
DIG Thalduwa said that Mr Ratwatte was earlier given an opporunity to make a statement to the Police, he had not given a statement, leading to his arrest.
The DIG said according to statements recorded so far, it has been claimed that Mr Ratwatte's former private Secretary had parked the vehicle at the Mirihana residence just three days before he was found dead with gun shot injuries in Kandy.
The former Secretary Sanjeewa Basnayake is believed to have shot himself, but further investigations are underway.
His body was found near Mr. Ratwatte’s office in Mahaiyawa on October 20. His residence was searched by the police team.
