Four Excise Department officers were arrested by the police, over a shooting incident at the Marine Drive in Bambalapitiya today evening, Police said.
The Excise officials were reportedly giving chase to a car transporting drugs.
However, initially, police reported the incident as an unidentified group had fired at another vehicle and both vehicles had fled the area.
Meanwhile spokesman for Excise Department Kapila Kumarasinghe said their officials arrested a suspect during a raid in Bambalapitiya with 150g of heroin and another suspect attempted to flee the scene in a car prompting Excise officials to open fire.
