Four Policemen attached to the Wadduwa Police were arrested over the alleged assault of a suspect who reportedly died due to the injuries.
Family members claimed that they had witnessed the suspect being assaulted.
Family members and villagers protested outside the Wadduwa police station last night.
The four policemen are due to be produced in courts tomorrow.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
