Two Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel were attacked and injured yesterday after they attempted to arrest a suspect allegedly in possession of heroin in Rambukkana, Police said.
The STF officers from the Narambedda STF camp had conducted the raid in the Tismalpola area in Rambukkana to arrest the suspect. However, as they were making the arrest the two officers were allegedly attacked by several persons. The officers were admitted to the Rambukkana Hospital and thereafter transferred to the Kegalle Hospital for further treatment.
Two male and two female suspects have been arrested by Rambukkana Police in connection with the incident. The male suspects are aged 25 and 35 years while the females are aged 34 and 59 years. Further investigations are ongoing.
