Four persons were injured when a private-owned light aircraft – Cessna 172 was forced to make an emergency landing in the Kimbulapitiya area, Katunayake.
The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing due to a technical defect, according to a senior officer of the Airport and Aviation Services.
The injured persons – two male and female pilots and two passengers, both foreigners were rushed to the Negombo hospital.
The aircraft sustained heavy damages.
The incident was the second such incident in two weeks after an aircraft on a training mission made an emergency landing in Payagala. Two persons on board escaped without injuries.
