Four members of the same family were killed when a three-wheeler collided with a train at Rillama in Ratgama this afternoon.
The victims were the driver of the three-wheeler (46), his wife (47), as well as his father and mother-in-law, both aged 84.
All four were pronounced dead on admission to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
The three-wheeler was attempting to enter the Galle-Colombo Road when it collided with the Vavuniya bound train from Galle at the railway crossing. Ratgama police have commenced investigations into the cause of the accident.
