A suspect who tried to fraudulently sell a motor vehicle he had leased from a vehicle dealership has been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).
Police Media Unit said the suspect had forged a vehicle registration certificate for the vehicle he had leased and had tried to sell it for Rs. 5.75 million.
Acting on a tip-off, CCD officers arrested the suspect yesterday from Godagama in Matara. Police said the National Identity Card (NIC) that the suspect produced to officers was also fake.
The 50-year-old suspect is a resident of Polgasowita. He is due to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today.
