The Freedom People’s Alliance – a collective of several key parties was launched today ahead of the proposed Local Government elections.
Seven of the key parties including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party signed the agreement to launch the Alliance at the SLFP Headquarters at Darley road, Colombo 10.
SLFP General secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara signed the agreement on behalf of the SLFP. The others who signed the agreement were Leader of the Nidhas Janatha Peramuna- Nalaka Godahewa, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party – Asanka Nawaratne, General Secretary of the Uttara Lanka Sabhagaya – J. Weerasinghe, Convener of the Nidahas Janatha Sabhawa – G.L. Peiris, General Secretary of the Jana Jaya Peramuna – Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, and General Secretary of Nidhas Janatha Sandanaya – Thilanga Sumathipala.
The Alliance plans to field candidates for the Local Government polls under the Helicopter symbol.
