The National Livestock Development Board is starting the program's first phase to provide fresh milk to households in Colombo city and suburbs from today (11).
In order to eliminate malnutrition among school children, the National Livestock Development Board has taken steps to start a program of providing fresh milk to households in Colombo and its suburbs in the morning and evening from today, the Agriculture Ministry said.
The inauguration of the first phase of this program was held today at the premises of the National Livestock Development Board in Narahenpita with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera. Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Gunadasa Samarasinghe and several officers of the Livestock Development Division participated in this event.
According to this arrangement, steps have been taken to supply fresh milk to houses and housing schemes located within Colombo city area.
Orders for liquid milk could be placed by calling 0117 173 984. According to that, arrangements have been made to deliver those orders by motorbikes to Colombo city area and its suburbs, said Professor H.W, Cyril,Chairman of the National Livestock Development Board.
