CIABOC informed Colombo Magistrate’s Court about bribes received from Airbus aircraft deal
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has been informed by the Bribery Commission (CIABOC) that funds allegedly received as bribes from the Airbus aircraft deal had been handed over by former SriLankan Airlines CEO, Kapila Chandrasena to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne.
No-confidence motion against Energy Minister
Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) signed a no-confidence motion against Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody and it has been handed over to the Speaker. The motion claims that the Minister failed to ensure the procurement of sufficient and quality coal for the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai.
Issues related to QR Codes for fuel will be resolved by tomorrow
Issues faced by the public in obtaining QR codes for fuel will be addressed within the day and it is expected to be fully resolved by tomorrow (20), Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Mr Bimal Rathnayake said.
Western Province is reported with 45% of TB
Nearly 45% of tuberculosis (TB) cases in the country are reported from the Western Province, public health specialist Dr. Mizaya Cader stated. Also, Sri Lanka records between 8,500 TB and 9,500 cases each year which has been reported by the National Programme for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD).

According to the US Embassy in Colombo, U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, has arrived in Sri Lanka for an official visit which involves high-level engagements aimed at advancing cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
