The vaccination drive to inoculate the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine to frontline health sector officials commenced today at two key locations in Colombo, Health Ministry said.
Accordingly, the vaccination drive was launched at the Darley Road Community Center, Colombo 10 and at the New Bazzar Maternity Home, opposite the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo 14.
The Colombo Regional Epidemiologist Dr. Dinuka Guruge stated that the arrangements have been made to give the second dose of the vaccine to 800 health sector workers who received the first dose in the Colombo Municipal Council area.
Medical Officer Dr. Sasanka Ranasinghe further added that the second jab will be given to 429 health sector workers today at the New Bazzar Maternity Home and that the vaccination drive will be carried out from today (28) to Friday (30) at this place, according to Government Information Department.
Currently, 300,000 doses are available for the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and the health sector workers and security personnel will be vaccinated first.
