The Fuel Distributors Association (FDF) has called off their protest this evening, and decided to resume placing fuel orders from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
The FDF Vice President Kusum Sandanayake told TimesOnline that the decision was taken this evening.
"As the Presidential Secretary has assured considerable relief after discussing the matter with the President, and the CPC has arranged a meeting tomorrow to discuss this further, we have decided to make this decision. From today, we have asked all distributors to place their orders as usual," the Vice President said.
"Also, we have decided to review the invoices we receive under the new formula, as it is a complicated system. After inspecting the profit margins for nearly a week, we will assess whether it is practical to proceed with it or not," stated Mr. Sandanayake.
Tthe Vice President of FDF commenting about being summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) tomorrow, he said, “, the CID has asked us to give a statement, and we will visit them at 2:30 PM after the meeting with the CPC.”
The dealers stopped placing their orders as the government decided to reduce the three per cent commission.
