Fuel prices have been increased with effect from midnight yesterday (20), the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) announced.
Accordingly, the price of a litre of 92 Octane Petrol has been increased by Rs. 20 from Rs. 157 to Rs. 177. The price of a litre of 95 Octane Petrol has gone up by Rs. 23, from Rs. 184 to Rs. 207.
Auto Diesel has gone up by Rs. 10 from Rs. 111 to 121 while Super Diesel has also increased by Rs. 15, with the price of one litre increasing from Rs. 144 to Rs. 159.
The price of a litre of Kerosene too has been increased by Rs. 10, from Rs. 77 to Rs. 87.
Meanwhile, the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) also announced that it has increased its fuel prices from midnight yesterday.
Accordingly, the new price list issued by LIOC is as follows:
92 Octane Petrol - Rs. 177 (Increase of Rs. 20); 95 Octane Petrol - Rs. 210 (Increase of Rs. 26), Auto Diesel - Rs. 159 (Increase of Rs.15); Kerosene Rs. 87 (Increase of Rs. 10).
Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila yesterday (20) indicated that the crisis of raising US dollars for fuel purchases had reached its peak while the Central Bank had proposed to Treasury a fuel price revision in order to avoid a further crisis.
