Problems arose in the results of 2900 students who sat of General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Ordinary Level (O/L) due to issues related to National ID cards, L.M.D. Dharmasena, the Commissioner General of Exams said.
He stated that many of them had already received the results following identification verification. "Even the students who appeared for the first time had issues with their national ID cards. Many students had not obtained their ID cards. We think that the recent travel restrictions caused this issue," Mr. Dharmasena explained.
He also stated that it is the responsibility of related schools to encourage students to obtain national ID cards, and that it is necessary to show a valid identification when taking O/Ls.
He went on to say that the results of 498 students were withheld for a variety of reasons, including a failure to provide valid identification.
