The government has decided to implement the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act from December 1, 2025.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued the relevant gazette notification announcing the date of implementation of the Act. Accordingly, the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act, No. 17 of 2025, will come into force on that date.
Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne had endorsed the certification on the new Act on September 4 in accordance with Article 79 of the Constitution.
The provisions of the Act shall apply to all types of gambling, except for lotteries and social gaming.
