An accomplice of underworld figure Shirantha Gayan “gayiya” has been arrested in Borella today(08), police said.
The arrest was made in a raid by STF Intelligence Unit near Borella Royal Golf Club, and the 28-year-old suspect was arrested over the possession of an unlicensed foreign-produced pistol.
The suspect was identified to be Shehan Silva, an accomplice of Shirantha Gayan.
The pistol and a mobile phone in his possession have been handed over to Borella Police for further investigation.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
