Emergency protocols have been activated by the Government of Sri Lanka to support the safety, security, and well-being of affected foreigners, considering the ongoing military escalation and airspace closures in the Middle East.
Accordingly, the Government has authorised a free 14-day extension of visa validity for all tourists stranded by flight cancellations currently in the country, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) stated.
A formal advisory has been circulated among all SLTDA Registered Tourism Service Providers, accommodation establishments, travel agents, tourist guides and other stakeholders to prioritise the management of departing guests.
The 1912 Tourist Emergency Hotline is operational at the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for linguistic and logistical assistance.
Customers can contact the Airport & Aviation Services Hotline (1994) for flight status, airport facilities, and airline operations.
Passengers on the national carrier can contact regarding rebooking and flight status via 1979: domestic or +94 11 777 1979: international.
