The gunman involved in the murder of a Buddhist monk at a temple in Malwathu Hiripitiya in Gampaha, was shot dead by the police, while reportedly trying to escape from custody in the Attanagalla area, Police said today.
The suspect arrested yesterday allegedly attempted to escape in the area of Urapola in Attanagalla, where he was accompanying police in the recovery of weapons.
