The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) called for a comprehensive report from the Inspector General of Police with regard to two recent incidents that took place while suspects were in Police custody, a statement from the body said.
Recently two alleged members of underworld Dharmakeerthi Tharaka Perera alias ‘Kosgoda Tharaka’ and Nambulage Dinith Melan alias ‘Uru Juwa’ were shot dead while under police custody recently.
Raising concerns of the state of rule of law in the country, the HRCSL demanded a detailed report over the deaths of the two individuals before May 30.
