The Hambantota COVID Treatment Centre has been forced to limit the number of patient admissions due to a shortage of doctors and other medical staff.
The treatment centre, established on the premises of the old Hambantota Hospital, was treating 229 COVID-19 patients as of today (28), but there are only four doctors at the hospital to treat them.
A hospital official said they have been forced to limit admitting patients as there aren't enough doctors at the hospital to treat them all.
Nevertheless, he noted that the hospital still had about 100 vacant beds to admit patients.
