President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof as the President’s Special Envoy for Foreign Investment, leveraging his extensive experience in global investment partnerships and long-standing contributions to Sri Lanka’s private sector, the President's office said.
The appointment, made under Article 41(1) of the Constitution, aims to bolster the Government’s economic revival programme.
As Special Envoy, Mr. Yusoof will facilitate high-level engagement with international investors and strategic partners, strengthen investor confidence, and support efforts to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to Sri Lanka.
He will also identify and promote key investment opportunities while working closely with the Board of Investment (BOI), the Export Development Board (EDB), the Port City Commission, and relevant line ministries.
The initiative is expected to create a favourable environment for sustainable foreign investment, reaffirm international confidence in Sri Lanka’s economic stability, and accelerate overall economic development.
Mr. Hanif Yusoof will serve in this role on an honorary basis, in addition to his duties as Governor of the Western Province.
