The Survey Department says Sri Lanka currently has 16.5 million land parcels out of wich 2.5 million have been surveyed and mapped.
This was revealed recently at a meeting of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Environment, Agriculture and Sustainable use of Resources in Parliament where the importance of the accurate surveying and swift mapping of all remaining land parcels in Sri Lanka was emphasized.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hector Appuhamy highlighted that there is a need to accelerate surveying and mapping of the remaining plots and said that all parties concerned would be summoned before the committee in due course to discuss the necessary measures and future plan to action.
