Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Harin Fernando filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition today at the Supreme Court seeking an order to prevent his arrest over Easter Sunday attacks.
The petition filed by Attorney-at-Law Sanath Wijewardena on behalf of Mr Fernando stressed that moves are underway by the government agencies to arrest his client over the terrorist attacks in 2019. Earlier Mr Fernando was summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police following his recent speech in Parliament.
Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Minister of Public Security, and the Attorney General were named as respondents.
