Heated parliament incident said to end up in a legal battle

Heated argument involving State Minister and Two SJB MP’s is said to end up in a legal battle.

MP Rohana Bandara involved in the argument told the Times Online that legal consultations are underway while State of Tourism Minister Diana Gamage involved in the incident have reportedly lodged a complaint at the Welikada police.

MP Rohana Bandara explained the heated incident sparked between State Minister, Diana Gamage and himself while he was heading to the MP’s elevator at the parliament after he was returning from a committee meeting held on the first floor.

He claimed that the state minister Gamage shouted at him and followed him despite his initial non reaction.

 He added that he too knew that the state minister would accuse him of harassment or assault, therefore video recorded the incident from his mobile phone while holding the files in another hand.

According to the video both the State Minister and the MP were involved in a heated argument. The state minister claimed that the MP’s trousers should be taken off. During the argument obscene language also was uttered.

Following the incident SJB MP Sujith Perera had attempted to resolve the argument and the State Minister had flung her hand bag at the MP.

 MP Rohana Bandara claimed that the MP Sujith Perera had tried to block the assault in self-defense and that had pushed the State Minister away.

 However the ever the vedio footage showed that the MP Sujith Perera pushing the State Minister away.

Speaker of the Parliament  Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has received complaints from both parties and has appointed a committee to investigate into the incident under the chairmanship of the Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse.
