Multiple places in most provinces in the island will experience showers or thundershowers after 1:00 pm today (November 18), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Heavy rainfall of about 100mm are due at certain places in Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa Provinces along with Ampara and Batticaloa Districts.
Showers are possible in Western and Southern Provinces also in Puttalam District during the morning hours, confirmed a Duty Meteorologist of the Met Dept.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are on the cards at several places in the sea zones surrounding the island.
Winds will be South-westerly in the sea areas off shores extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Winds will strike at 20-30 KMPH and will be inconstant in direction over the remaining marine areas around the island.
The sea areas surrounding the island are expected to tone down although strong gusts of wind and turbulent waters are foreseen during thunderstorms transiently.
