Torrential rain this afternoon left parts of Hali-Ela town submerged and traffic disrupted across several routes in the Badulla District, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
A surge of rainwater flooded the Kandegedara road, damaging shops and halting movement in the town.
Landslides also blocked sections of the Ella–Wellawaya, Passara–Madolsima–
Two cattle were killed by lightning strikes in Udugama, Hali-Ela.
RDA Executive Engineer S.S. Hennayake said clearing operations are underway to reopen affected roads.
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings until 6 p.m. tomorrow (October 5) for Hali-Ela, Ella, Badulla, Passara, and several other high-risk divisions.
Residents have been urged to remain alert and avoid hillside travel.
