Heavy rain was reported in the Diyathalawa area today, after two months.
The Meterological Department had predicted that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Mullaitivu district during the evening or night.
The Department also said showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
The Deparment said mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the Island.
