Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m today (20) with heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places, the Meteorology Department forecasted.
Public is requested to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be fairly rough at times with temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas expected during thundershowers, the Met. Department said.
