The Meteorology Department warned that heavy showers above 100 mm are likely to fall in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces today.
The general public are requested to take relevant precautions to prevent the dangers caused by heavy winds, lightning and thundershowers.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in the evening and the night in the Eastern and Uva provinces.
Fairly strong winds of about 40-45 kmph are also to be expected in the central hills, Western, North-western and North-central provinces.
