Hospital services of Puttalam District Hospital were severely affected today (1) due to trade union action taken by the nurses, district health officials said.
Due to nurses staying away from work, doctors were seen attending to work of the nurses as well.
However, it was seen that a small number of nurses were in the hospital in case of emergencies.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
