Sri Lankan man, 20, also accused of beating and strangling teenager in West London
A migrant living in a taxpayer-funded asylum hotel has denied abducting and raping a teenage girl.
Yashin Himasara, a 20-year-old Sri Lankan, is also accused of beating and strangling the 15-year-old after he “carried her away against her will” in Feltham, west London, on Nov 1.
He had been living in the three-star St Giles Hotel in Feltham, being used by the Government to house asylum seekers.
Mr Himasara appeared at Isleworth Crown Court via video link from HMP Wormwood Scrubs. He spoke to confirm his name and date of birth, aided by a Sinhala interpreter.
Mr Himasara denied one count of kidnapping, one count of rape, one count of assault by penetration, and one count of assault by beating. He also denied one count of sexual activity with a child and two counts of intentional strangulation.
Bozzie Sheffi, defending, said Ms Himasara struggled to speak English and would need to be assisted by an interpreter at trial.
Judge Kwame Inyundo remanded the defendant into custody ahead of his trial on April 27.
