The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickremaratne today said that investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks had been planned for a long time and need to be carefully probed.
The IGP in a recorded statement said explained the progress of the investigations adding that 311 suspects are currently in custody or being held under detention orders.
He said a total of 723 persons had been taken into custody while 100,000 telephone calls were analysed.
The IGP said Rs. 365 million in cash and assets have been confiscated so far.
He said since there were various groups including intellectuals involved in the attack it needs to be conducted carefully and confidentially.
