Several trade unions staged a string of protests across Colombo on a range of issues including proposed privatization of state companies including state banks.
The Union also asked for concessions for employees of the public sector, Semi Government, Private sector and estate workers affected by the economic crisis..
The protests came as budget debate continued in Parliament.
