Mr Martin Chungong Secretary General of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) arrives in Sri Lanka today.
He arrives in the country on an invitation extended by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
During his visit he will meet with the President, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa among others.
Mr Chungong is the eighth Secretary General of the IPU since its foundation in 1889.
He was first elected in 2014. Of Cameroonian nationality, he is the first non-European and the first African to be IPU Secretary General.
